A rusty tin boat, brightly colored plastic soldiers and some black mirrors were the inspiration for Miguel’s most abstract body of work. Layering hundreds of transparent coats of paint and wax, Miguel painted different combinations of the boat, the soldiers and the way it all reflected on the black mirrors.

A great part of his time in NYC was devoted to experimentation of new materials and techniques while creating these paintings. The result is a magnificent series of dark and intimate art work that reflect Miguel’s vision of a fantasy world.
